Cambridge Dictionaries

The first and last word in dictionaries

Cambridge Dictionaries are written using the Cambridge International Corpus, a huge collection of written and spoken language from around the world that shows how the English Language is really used and spoken by people today. With more than 1 billion words of real English, it documents new words and meanings wherever they occur, from podcasts and magazines to television and everyday conversations.

Cambridge University Press has published special Low Price Editions of several of its dictionaries especially for the African and Caribbean markets. These Low Price Editions contain all of the same up-to-date content of the standard editions - including the versions with CD-ROMs - but are available at reduced prices accessible only by our markets.

This section of the African Branch website features these Low Price Editions in particular, as well as our own proud contributions, such as the Cambridge Mathematics Dictionary for Schools, which is now also available in several of the official languages of South Africa. To view more information on these titles, use the menu located on the left.

Please visit the Cambridge English Language Teaching website www.cambridge.org/elt to view the full range of English language dictionaries published by the Press globally - as well as access a wide range of useful web-based and downloadable resources.
